Normal sudoku rules apply. Numbers outside the grid indicate the sum of the numbers on their diagonal. Numbers may repeat when otherwise allowed. Digits in the little circles must appear in their four surrounding cells. Note: the visual pattern of the intended solve path is inspired by a puzzle by Sam Cappleman-Lynes. Comments welcome!

This is definitely much more difficult than a 1 star puzzle. The start is easy, but it stalls out HARD in the midgame until you look in the right places in the right way. I rated it 4-stars. It was still an enjoyable solve.
Regarding Timwi posting it on timwi, it's fairly common for people to create online versions when one is not provided by the poster. When you originally posted this, the link was not active, so it's possible Timwi thought this was the case and was trying to help.
EDIT: I don't know what happened with the link. Glad it works now! And thanks for the solve and comments. :-)

Hello. So it turns out this puzzle is *much* harder than I thought. I am fairly certain I made one or two false assumptions when setting it. In fact, I cannot solve it at this point, as it is (although I am not an expert solver). So - because nine of you have solved it, I will leave it up. But others: beware! It is very tough! I'll be more careful with my next posts. Thanks all!
