Rules: Normal Sudoku rules apply. Normal Killer rules apply (Numbers must not repeat inside the cages). In each row, column and 3x3 box there is a cell with a negative value. The negative value counts only for the cage sums, eg if a cage contains 123(-4), its value will be 2. Other than that the negative cells act like absolute values, which means a cage or a box cannot contain both -1 and 1. Each negative value must appear only once: there is only one -1, etc.
Edit: After some of your comments I have to clarify something that it was not very clear by the rules. A cage can contain more than one negative numbers.
For those who like to solve online (colouring could be helpful), I've set an f-puzzle that you can find here. BUT! Be aware that because of the negative constraint the check function will not work, so you will have a lot of cells marked as wrong. AND, the 1 in the Box 5 is -1.
Edit: After some of your comments I have to clarify something that it was not very clear by the rules. A cage can contain more that one negative numbers.
This is the hardest Sudoku I have set so far, so I hope you will enjoy the journey.

Absolutely wonderful, one of the tightest and most beautiful modifier cell puzzles I've solved.
Every single breakthrough is so precise and requires certain attention to understand what's hidden behind, it's really hard to believe this puzzle came from 2020 lol
Here's a sudokupad link I created (no answer check) with clearer description of the rules: https://sudokupad.app/edpo6inpmj

Very nice puzzle, break-in, and logic path. Thank you!

@polar Thanks a lot for the comment and your time. I didn't expect to find a solution here, so long after the puzzle was uploaded. Thanks for the penpa set too. I appreciate it

Stunning puzzle! I had to restart a couple of times but it was even more enjoyable the 2nd and 3rd time around. Thank you!

Thanks to all for the kind comments and for giving my puzzle a second chance.

Very well constructed puzzle with a narrow logical path.. had a lot of fun solving this

After the hint, I was able to solve it. I got stuck with the logic at the very end, but I was able to brute force it. Great puzzle overall

With the new hint concerning the rules, I managed to complete the solve as well. The strange thing is, I actually speculated during my first attempt whether another cage might have two negative numbers. But at the place where it mattered, I didn't consider this possibility at all. Great puzzle - interesting and very challenging.

Thanks a lot for the solving, guys. I feel relieved. I thought I messed it up. Probably I should have made the rules more clear from the beginning.

Very nice logical path, but hard to find. Thanks a lot :-)

I'm dumb. I didn't think it was restricted, but I never even considered it. Great puzzle afterall.

A clarification in the rules
am 24. August 2020, 20:39 Uhr von Mesmer
Thank you all for the feedback. The truth is that because the break-in is kind of tricky, I took a week of testing the puzzle before posting it. And yet, I cannot be 100% sure that it doesn't somehow break.
Something I can say, that it is not forbidden by the rules as they are given, but it is also not clear, is that a cage can contain two or more negative numbers. Maybe that helps with the contradiction in box 3.
Thanks again for your solving time.

Same as Jesper and ThrowingNinja. I couldn't place the necessary negative number in box 3 without it almost immediately breaking the puzzle.

@Mesmer: I gave it a serious attempt. I found the puzzle difficult but also very interesting. However, eventually I came to a point where I realized that I would not be able to get one negative occurrence each for 1-9, and despite searching a long time, I was not able to find where I made a mistake in the logic. So I had to give up. I don't know, maybe I will give it a second try in the future.

I worked on your puzzle for hours and hours but I couldn't solve it. I feel like I'm doing it correctly, but there is always a contradiction in the end and then I start all over

I would like to ask if anyone has tried to solve my puzzle, because it is very rare for a puzzle to stay unsolved for so long. And I just want to know if there is something wrong with it and see if I can improve it.
Thanks in advance.
