Sudoku Variants Series (268) - Sudoku Anti Clone

(Published on 13. May 2020, 00:00 by Richard)

For this Sudoku Variants Project I have planned to publish a different Sudoku variant every week. I will see how long it takes before I am running out of ideas.

Sudoku Anti Clone
Apply classic sudoku rules.
Digits in areas with the same shape may not repeat; not within the shape itself and also not in the cloned shape. Cloned shapes may be rotated and/or reflected in comparison with their original; they are still considered clones.

Hm, I'm kind of baffled about some comments. It's a tricky puzzle but I didn't find it hard. I've seen a lot of SVS 3-stars puzzles that were harder. I didn't use Phistomefel's theorem either. I'm not a fan of excessive pencilmarking, but I think that this puzzle is a good example of sudoku where zealous pencilmarking really helps

Reply: I was surprised about the remarks about difficulty too. It's not that hard, but contains a naked single (well, at least for me) to progress and those are hard to spot, especially in variants, where you tend to look for the intrinsic logic involved. Pencilmarking is really helpfull n that case.
I hadn't heard about Phistomefel's theorem at that time, so didn't use it while constructing too.
