Dutch Dormers (Dutch Flatmates,Irregular Squishdoku)

(Published on 26. January 2026, 21:17 by DubiousMobius)

This puzzle was created for Scojo's weekly setting challenge. This time the challenge was to set a puzzle using Dutch Flatmates and Squishdoku. I hope you enjoy, and thanks for giving it a try. All feedback is always appreciated!

Rules:

Irregular Squishdoku: Place the digits 1 through 9 once each in every 9-cell region, without repeats in any row or column. Cells on region borders (dashed lines) are shared between multiple regions.

Dutch Flat Mates: Every 5 in the grid must have a 1 directly above it or a 9 directly below it. It may have both, but it doesn’t need both.

Kropki Dots: White dots separate cells with consecutive digits. Black dots separate cells with digits in a 1:2 ratio. Not all dots are given.

Surprisingly more easier than regular squishdoku in my opinion. Still, the 3* are pretty much justified. Well constructed puzzle nonetheless!

For such an intimidating (but beautiful) looking grid, this unwinds so smoothly! Brilliant idea and really lovely execution :)
