City of Whispers

Rules

  • Normal sudoku rules apply.
  • Adjacent digits on lines differ by at least 5.
  • Digits outside the grid are scyscrapers clues. The clue equals the number of digits in that row/column visible from the clue's end, where higher digits block the view of lower digits behind them.

The conflict checker on the original sudokupad link was causing some confusion by not handling digits outside the grid properly. This was a quirk of the way I set it in sudokumaker, so I've replaced the link with a new one exported from Penpa+ to avoid this problem.

Characteristically ingenious. The way the rules are weaved together is so clever, thanks.

Very cool puzzle!

I find skyscrapers daunting. However, I love your puzzles so much I had to give it a go. To my surprise it solved smoothly and fairly approachable. Thank you for another great puzzle.

Very elegant and beautiful puzzle, as always! Quite easy after the break-in, except that skyscrapers are very tricky and treacherous if you’re not paying attention, slightly terrifying at times. Thanks for a great puzzle, Jay!

Updated sudokupad link with better conflict checking.

An absolutely peach of a puzzle! Break-in is the main challenge after which it flows really smoothly. GW lines and skyscraper clues interact really well to give very interesting and crucial deductions. Thanks for sharing this cool puzzle.

I am generally not a fan of skyscraper puzzles, but this was excellent...Break-In logic was very cool! Something going on with the auto check.

Very nice! After a tricky break-in a very smooth puzzle, so 3 stars seems fair. Thanks

Smooth and fun, thanks!

Brilliant. From the start it seems way too little to work with but then it just clicked and slowly started flowing. Thanks!

Very enjoyable and closer to 3* in my opinion.

Likewise great puzzle, solves beautifully: 3* for me

Super nice, Jay - and I would agree with qodec - prob 3* rather than 4.

on 21. January 2026, 16:30 by Qodec
Very cool. Not even that hard.

It's causing errors when solving in sudokupad. The skyscraper clues for some grids are turning red due to repetition. Do normal sudoku rules apply to the skyscraper as well? And what about the skyscraper at the corner. Please clarify in your rules. Thanks
