Look At What You're Saying

(Published on 9. April 2025, 10:04 by PhoenixAki)

This puzzle is part of my snackdoku series. Snackdokus are sudoku puzzles that are generally smaller (4x4 grid) and simpler to solve. If you are an experienced solver, you will likely be done in hardly 30 seconds to 1 minute. Good practice even if you are newer to the hobby!

Rules:
  • Normal 4x4 sudoku rules apply. Place the digits 1-4 in each row, column, and 2x2 box without repetition.
  • Look and Say Cages: Digits in dotted-line cages specify how often a specific digit inside it appears. The tens digit is how many times, and the ones digit is which number. For example, a cage labelled with 23 means there are 2 3's in the cage.
  • Consecutive Pairs: Digits separated by a white dot must be consecutive.
Solve on SudokuPad here!

To increase accessibility to my puzzles, I include hints in my puzzle posts (see below) and also post solution videos which guide you through the hints on my YouTube channel. If you'd like to solve this in your own video, go ahead! But ideally, let me know here or via Discord (same username) if you do ^.^

Hint: There's only 1 way to distribute the numbers in each cage, given there has to be 3 of them in each and you can't repeat digits in boxes because of normal sudoku rules. The rest of the puzzle should fill itself in once that is done.

Solution code: Row 3's digits from left to right (4 digits)

Got it in 11 seconds! (But I had a moment to think about it before loading the puzzle, so maybe it should count as a bit longer.)
