Factor Factory

(Published on 9. April 2025, 03:32 by Kippar)

RULES:

Normal sudoku rules apply.

Most of the grid is covered in fog. Placing a correct digit in a cell removes fog from that cell and surrounding cells, revealing more information. Digits in cages sum to the clue in the top-left corner of the top leftmost cell. Cages are made up of orthogonally connected cells, and digits cannot repeat in cages. All cages must contain at least 2 digits that multiply to the cage clue. (i.e a valid 12-cage could contain the digits 345.) Digits separated by a white dot are consecutive. Digits separated by a black dot have a 2:1 ratio.

Solution code: Row 1 followed by row 2, no spaces, digits are read left to right.

Really lovely puzzle, although making the solution code 18 digits makes it challenging when completing the puzzle on a phone!

Enjoyed that, fog of war is my current favourite sudoku variant.

Yay! Product puzzles! More please!

I think this rule could be quite interesting without any given totals at all (or at least a few blank cages...)

Very fun and nice puzzle. After the break in, the product constraint make the cages composition too obvious to earn a third star for difficulty. Two at max in my humble opinion.
Well done anyway.

Felt more like 2.5 stars but I'm much better at remembering factors of numbers off the top of my head than I am with regular killer cage logic, so this ended up being a bit easier than I expected. Still, a fun puzzle with interesting logic.
