Crust Sums

(Published on 21. February 2025, 07:23 by mellowrobinson)

I daydreamed this ruleset up while stuck in traffic. But it's so simple, surely it's been done before?

It's just like sandwich Sudoku, except the crusts are any two digits. The crusts have a sum and the filling has a sum.

And yes, crust can be filling and filling can be crust. :)

Play on SudokuPad

Normal Sudoku rules apply.

Numbers outside the grid are crust/sandwich clues:

-The first number in a clue gives the sum of two digits (the "crusts") in its respective row or column.

-The second number in a clue gives the sum of the digits sandwiched between the two crusts (the "filling") in its row or column.

-Cells may act simultaneously as crust and/or filling for different clues.

Digits in cages sum to the given total.

Solution code: Row 5, left to right
