Nurimisaki Squishdoku
(Published on 13. February 2025, 19:34 by Nell Gwyn)
The second of the two Secret Santa puzzles I made for Ambrose for the event this past year. Enjoy!
RULES:
- Squishdoku: Place the digits 1 to 9 once each in every 3x3 box (cells with dotted lines through them are shared between multiple boxes) such that digits do not repeat in a row or column.
- Nurimisaki: Shade some cells gray such that:
- The unshaded cells form a single orthogonally connected region (the shaded cells do not necessarily do so).
- No 2x2 area is fully shaded or fully unshaded.
- Every circled digit is unshaded, and has exactly one unshaded cell orthogonally adjacent to it. All circles are given (meaning, no other unshaded cell can have exactly one other unshaded cell orthogonally adjacent to it).
- The digit in the circle is how many unshaded digits that cell "sees" in its row or column, including the cell itself. Shaded cells block the view.
- The number in the corner of the central cell of each 3x3 box is the sum of the shaded digits in that box (the cell with the clue may be shaded or unshaded).

Easier the second time once I'd assimilated the Nurimisaki rules a little better - satisfying solve again!
