Dutch Flat Mates (Giant Kropki)

(Published on 12. February 2025, 11:30 by goodcity)

If you are interested in the Dutch Flat Mates serie created by Flinty, you can find the others here.

Normal sudoku rules apply.

  • Dutch Flats : All 5's in the grid must have a 1 directly above it or a 9 directly below it. It may have both, but it doesn't need both.
  • Giant Kropki : Cells on orthogonally opposite sides of a white circle contain consecutive digits. Cells on orthogonally opposite sides of a black circle contain digits with a 1:2 ratio.

The puzzle is available online via CTC-App

Solution code: Column 9

Initial game was quite straightforward, but I got stuck in the last third of the game, when just Kropki in box 4 was incomplete. Anyway I succeeded after a bit of bifurcation

Really nice puzzle. I couldn't believe the few constraints were enough, but indeed they are :)

Cool addition with a refreshing rule. Perfect 2* difficulty to me. Great fun thx.

@Luigi: Orthogonally opposite means that only the orthogonally adjacent cells are affected, not the diagonal ones. So the dot in R2C8 forms a white dot connecting R2C7 with R2C9 and R1C8 with R3C8.

Please specify: "orthogonally opposite side" whith an example.
What is an orthogonal opposite side of the white dot R2/C8?

Very nice and approachable addition to the series. Yet again another constraint I have not seen before.
