Boba the Cat

(Published on 5. February 2025, 16:03 by Allagem)

I wanted to make my own Cat Sudoku in the style of my friend Darono, who has created a few 'Mochi the Cat' puzzles that I have published under my account. I don't own a cat myself, but Darono actually has TWO cats. Mochi is his older female cat, and Boba is his younger male cat, whom he rescued from a park last year. So I decided to make a puzzle in honor of Boba and I thought it might be fun to use some different line constraints this time! I was able to make this cute design that doubles as a fairly approachable puzzle.

Since I already had thermometers that were grey, I wanted to give the 10-line a different color and I realized there was a perfect choice still available among the common line variants. Not only do I think 10-lines are brilliant enough to be worthy of the audacious color of white, but a hollow white line allows you to use the pen tool in SudokuPad to fill in the segments of the 10-line as you solve the puzzle to visually represent the logic of the 10-Line, which looks awesome on the puzzle. Sadly, there isn't much opportunity to experience this on the single 10-Line in this puzzle, but I still hope you will give it a try! I will definitely be setting a puzzle focused on 10-Lines in the near future to further explore this new visual.

I hope you enjoy Boba the Cat!

Solve on SudokuPad

Normal Sudoku rules apply.
Kropki Pairs: Digits separated by a black dot are in a 2:1 ratio.
Thermometers: Values along a grey thermometer strictly increase from bulb to tip.
Region Sum Lines: Box borders divide the blue line into segments with equal sums.
German Whispers: Adjacent digits on a green line differ by 5 or more.
10-Lines: The white line can be divided into one or more segments that each sum to 10.
Quadruples: Each digit in a circle appears at least once in the surrounding four cells.

And finally, the most important part - a picture of Boba!

Here are the previous Cat Sudokus Darono and I have made if you would like to check them out!
