It's Me Again

(Published on 4. February 2025, 05:00 by oskode)

This puzzle uses the same ruleset as my puzzle Self Centered but with the difficulty and grid size increased. I recommend checking out the 6x6 version first!

Rules:

  • Sudoku: Fill all empty cells with a digit from 1-9 such that all rows, columns and marked 3x3 regions contain no repeated digits.
  • Diagonal stars: A digit in a star indicates how many copies of itself it sees diagonally (eg. if a star contains a 1, then one other 1 must be seen diagonally from that star; if the digit is a 2, then two other 2s must be seen etc.).
  • Empty Cells: All stars are given. This means that a cell without a star may not satisfy the 'Diagonal Stars' rule (eg. an empty cell containing a 3 may not see three copies of itself diagonally).
  • Every star contains a different digit

Very nice! The use of the negative constraint I found to be both subtle and intuitive.

A 2 star puzzle really.... never underrating but after solving the 6x6 one that is quite easy

Very nice, fun puzzle. I found it fairly easy to get a start thanks to the "every star contains a different digit" rule, but harder to wrap up. An enjoyable challenge.

Nice step up from the 6x6! The break in logic was nice. Took a bit to find the digit to look at to wrap it up. Overall, quite smooth. Thanks!
