Logic solvable
Bouncing X-Sums
Inspiration for this type comes from mathpesto.
Solve online in Penpa+ or in Sudokupad.
Like all of my sudoku variants, this puzzle can be solved by logic alone. Guessing is not required and also no sophisticated solving techniques are necessary; just plain and easy sudoku steps and of course the intrinsic logic this specific variant has to offer. In case you don't find that logic or get stuck, feel free to ask for a hint in the comments below this puzzle and I'll be happy to help you.
Apply classic sudoku rules.
Clues outside the grid indicate the sum of the first X digits along the indicated diagonal, where X is the first digit the arrow points to. If X exceeds the number of cells in the direction, the sum bounces off the edge at a 90-degree angle and continues. Digits may be repeated in sums.
Solution code: Row 5

Reponse to Nick and Flinty: Good to read this feedback! I just thought it would be helpfull to quickly see the implications of the ruleset, also while solving. But didn't realise the impact of the zooming effect. For future puzzles I will keep the examples only in the puzzle page and not in the online solve tools.

Very fun ruleset! This was my first time with bouncing sums, and I will have to try the puzzle that inspired this one next.

Again, it’s a beautiful addition to one of my favorite series. Thank you very much for creating and sharing.

Very nice puzzle!
Note to Nick Smirnov and Flinty. On my Mac, I can zoom in on part of the screen to see the puzzle more easily. I think that can be done on Windows too. But here's a Sudokupad link without the example:

Great ruleset, I too was inspired by the original. Like Nick, I also found the example within the grid made it a bit small.

Reply: I wasn't aware of your take on this ruleset, but I'll definitely give it a try. (I did some DFM's already since that type is on my list too and will appear in a couple of weeks.)

Flinty: Ahh, incredible!! Can't wait. We've certainly borrowed constraints from your series more than once!

@Richard, great puzzle. Could you, please, in future puzzles exclude example bits from Sudokupad, because actual puzzles become pretty small and it is hard for the eyes.

Lovely!
