I set a puzzle with this rule set for a Secret Santa exchange in December 2024, and I enjoyed it so much I wanted to set another, so here it is! Hat tip to Solver Tom, whose choco-banana-sudoku hybrid (with different rules) from an earlier secret santa inspired me.
An example 6x6 puzzle is given here to help illustrate the rules. In the example, the lines are Seven-Lines rather than Ten-Lines. You can solve the example here: Solve example on Sudokupad
Main Puzzle Rules
Standard Sudoku Rules apply.
Choco Banana: Color the cells 2 colors (choco and banana). Contiguous choco regions must be square or rectangular in shape; Contiguous banana regions must NOT be square or rectangular. A cell with a circle contains a digit that counts the number of cells in its contiguous single-color region.
Ten-Lines: Each line is divided into one or more single color segments by the choco banana coloring. (A single color segment may use cells from multiple regions of the same color; in other words the coloring, rather than region borders, determines the segments.) Each of these single color segments adds to exactly 10.

Yes! The world can always use more chocolate banana! :D
Absolutely loved this one! Don’t think I really ever felt stuck or lost, it just required visualization of ALL consequences of each available option at a few points. Great puzzle! :)

dürfen sich Regionen überschneiden?
--No, Each cell has only one color, so regions may not overlap.

This is a good puzzle. However, it is clearly a 4-star puzzle.
