Sandwich Pseudoku

(Published on 27. January 2025, 06:43 by starwarigami)

Normal Sudoku rules (mostly) apply.

Fill the grid with the digits 1-9 (and 0) so that (almost) no digit repeats in any row, column or box.
(Each unique digit may appear twice in exactly one row, column OR box. No row, column, or box may contain more than one repeated digit.)

Clues outside the grid show the sum of the digits sandwiched between the 1 and 9 in the indicated row or column.
(If a 1 or 9 repeats in the indicated row or column, the clue shows the total of the digits between the first 1 and 9 seen from that side of the grid)

Really Enjoyed this one. Found the break in to be easy, but the rest of the solve tough. Hard keeping up with the doubles and 0 on top of that.

What an amazing puzzle! Very interesting ruleset, challenging at first blush when you still don’t get a grasp of how it all clicks together, but when you understand it, it all unfolds beautifully from there. Just try to stay away from regular sudoku until you have devised all of the repeated digits. And keep close (literally close) attention to the rules to save you some time, especially to the logical conjunctions and the specifics of where repeated digits might appear. Thank you for this nice setting, starwarigami!

Nice puzzle, very hard for me - I got stuck for a long time at one point, thanks for including a solution guide as it was great to look back and see the easier deduction path that I had missed

Found it much easier than the region sum one - although having familiarized myself with the ruleset must have played a part.
