A Little Mouthful (Short Sandwiches Sudoku)

A little/short tribute to a Gliperal classic. Takes inspiration from Sudoku Variants Series (381) - Short Sandwiches Sudoku by Richard.
- Sudoku: Each row, column, and region indicated by thick borders in the grid must contain the digits 1 to 9 once each.
- Short Sandwiches: Clues outside the grid give the sum of the digits placed between the largest and the smallest digit in the first six cells from that side.
- Inequality signs point at the smaller digit.

Solution code: Row 1 and column 9. I.e. the 9 digits in row 1 from left to right, followed by the 9 digits in column 9 from top to bottom, for example: 123456789 123456789

This felt really fresh. I can't recall a puzzle that has forced me to look at the grid/sandwiches like this. There were some really unexpected logical entailments to the short sandwich. Also, this puzzle doesn't really let up; there were a few 'remember to do sudoku' moments for me. Very rewarding all the same. Really, really brilliant work. Thank you!!

Beautifully done, an interesting rule variation, set up with a very nice break-in and great flowing sudoku logic throughout the rest

What a cool and sensational setting! The solve actually got trickier for me in the later half, but spotting that one breakthrough gave me quite an adrenaline boost there x)
