Oops, All Region Sums!

(Published on 6. January 2025, 04:35 by PersonWhoExists50306)

Normal sudoku rules apply (1-9 in every row, column, box w/o repeats)

The digits along each renban line (magenta) form a set of consecutive digits in any order.

Two digits connected by a German whispers line (green) have a difference of at least 5. One of them stretches past the edge to the opposite side.

The digits in a killer cage sum to the indicated value and can't repeat within one.

The digits on a thermometer increase as you move further from a bulb.

The cyan lines are region sum lines. The region borders separate them into segments with digits summing to the same value.

Oh, and the rest of the elements are region sum lines, too.

If two different types of elements overlap, consider them separate overlapping region sum lines. (For example, two overlapping thermos are one line, but a thermo and a plain region sum or the renban and German whispers are separate) Separate lines can have separate associated sums.

This is a sequel of sorts to my surprisingly well-received puzzle, "Oops, All Renbans!".

I really enjoyed Oops all renbans. This one gave me a lot of trouble, because of a misunderstanding of the rules regarding the thermos in the middle. Once I read the comments it became clear. I thought they were two different region sums, because the thermos were two different colors.

--
Sorry about that. They were originally the same color, but that caused some confusion as to what to do with the cell between the bulbs. I probably should've thought this one through a bit more.
--
No worries. It was a good puzzle, and quite enjoyable once I understood the rules. :)

Rules clarification:
There are FOUR separate, connected thermos in boxes 2-5-8. It is all ONE region sum line.

Made middle thermometer clearer

Not started it yet, but that middle thermometer really needs some more/better explanation. It is impossible to fill it in a way where digits strictly increase from both bulbs, as the value in both bulbs would have to be at least 2 higher than the other bulb.

I've edited it. Is this better? Sorry for the confusion!

Better for understanding the thermometers for sure. But now there's a possible confusion about the region sums, since it looks like the two thermos would also be two separate region lines, just like the connected renban and whisper are. To be honest I'm not sure there is a good way to keep the thermometers separate as thermos while also making them a single region line.

I went stuck for 10 mins until I found that the rest of the elements are region sum lines, too.

The middle thermometer is really confusing. But when you just ignore it until you have solved most of the other elements it works out.
