Chaos Construction: Arrow Knots

(Published on 2. January 2025, 08:51 by Myxo)

Another result of my recent urge to set Chaos Construction. Enjoy!

Rules:

Chaos Construction: Divide the grid into orthogonally connected 9-cell regions such that each cell is part of exactly one region. Fill the grid with digits 1-9 such that no digit repeats in any row, column or region.

Arrow Knots: From each circle, draw some arrows that travel in a straight line horizontally or vertically. The number in the bottom right corner of a circle cell indicates the number of arrows that must be drawn from that circle. Digits along an arrow must sum to the digit in the attached circle.

Additionally, all cells along arrows must be part of the same region as the circle they originate from. If an arrow doesn't reach the edge of the grid, the cell directly after the tip must be in a different region than the arrow.

Loved it, but I agree with Henry that I did not notice the supposed more difficult step in the middle!

That step is indeed not as easy as the rest, but it's perfectly in the theme of the puzzle, so it’s more than fair and super cool ! Thanks :)

I wonder what the supposedly "evil" step in the midgame is - for me there was no step significantly harder than the rest.

That is, without a doubt, one of the greatest puzzles I was ever able to solve.
What an accomplishment Myxo, totally awesome!

Nice puzzle. That one trick got me stuck for a while too though, even more after a comparatively easy start. Having a puzzle become more difficult halfway through was a bit weird. After that very flowy again.

Hey Myxo, thank you so much for this absolutely brillant CC puzzle! Figuring out the first few regions is so rewarding. Then it became a bit tougher but never unfair. Loved it!

Brilliant puzzle! Thank you

Very nice puzzle ! Very smooth although there is one very tricky step.

This started off pretty handily, but there is definitely a high-star hitch midsolve. It took me a while to finish off the grid, but a very cool puzzle nonetheless. Such fun!

Got pretty stuck around the middle of the solve. Thus a clear 4*-puzzle for me, but VERY interesting, too. Thank you very much for creating and sharing this gem.

Really interesting rule set, and an incredibly fun puzzle...thanks! :D

one step in the middle is evil. Rest is pretty classic CC stuff though, very fun :D

Super smooth!

One 4* deduction, and otherwise a very smooth solve, probably closer to 3* overall. Beautiful setting, as always.
