Way Too Late at Knight

(Published on 2. January 2025, 02:21 by ChinStrap)

Made for Scojo weekly setting prompt. Inspired by sujoyku setting an index line anti knight for it. I was up until 3 AM New Years messing with it, hence the name.

Rules:

Place the digits 1-7 such that no digit repeats in any row, column or bold outlined region. Some regions are split into smaller parts and how they match up must be determined by the solver.

Anti-Knight: Cells a chess knight's move apart may not contain the same digit.

Index Lines: On an index line, the digit in the Nth cell along the line (starting from the diamond) indicates the position along the line where the digit N appears. Eg: 3214 would be a valid line with 3 as the diamond; the 1st digit, 3, indicates that the 3rd cell contains a 1, the 2nd cell a 2, and so on.

All feedback (positive or critical) appreciated!

Solution code: Column 1, top to bottom (7 digits)

Maybe add some colors to show where the regions are? I don't understand this puzzle as is.

ChinStrap: I have updated the rules. Please let me know if they are unclear or if any clarification or hint is needed.

It might be worth clarifying in the rules (for those not so familiar) how the disjoint regions are connected.

ChinStrap: Thanks for the comment. Does this look better?

This creative irregular 7doku comes with two disconnected regions that make it fun. Five thumbs up.
