Nurikabe Renban Islands
(Published on 24. December 2024, 08:10 by randall)
- Normal Sudoku rules apply: Place the digits 1-9 exactly once in every row, column, and 3x3 box
- Nurikabe: Shade some cells to form a single contiguous shape (water) in which unshaded "islands" exist. No 2x2 group of cells may be fully shaded. Islands may not touch orthogonally. Each given digit is in its own island, and represents the number of cells within that island. No island exists except those with a given digit.
- Additionally: Once formed, each island contains a "renban" set of non-repeating, consecutive digits
- Outside clues represent the sum of digits within island(s) for that row or column

This had very interesting logic and a really satisfying resolution. But the difficulty was around 4* for me.
