[TSL][S1T2] We're going on a journey

(Published on 22. December 2024, 00:41 by FischmitFahrrad)

This was part of a Setting Competition held in 2024/2025. The Skunkworks League was hosted by @damasosos92.
The competition took place in a total of 7 turns with a unique prompt for each round. Setter's had to create and test a unique puzzle for each prompt solely by themselves.

As of the prompt for Turn 2 of TSL the goal was to create a puzzle based off of the song and it's video "The Boy" by Tom Rosenthal. Listening to the song/watching the video is not necessary for the puzzle itself. Link to the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rj34nSnxg6c

Normal Fillomino rules apply.

Digits from 1 to 9 only. Divide the grid into regions of orthogonally connected cells, and place the region size in each cell of those regions. Regions of the same size can't share an edge.

Cells separated by a white dot have to be consecutive, cells separated by a black dot are in 1:x ratio with x being the digit given within the black dot.

Digits in dashed cages must not repeat and sum to the digit in the top-left corner, if given

Cells that are marked with the same motive must contain the same digits. E.g. every cell that contains blades of grass has to contain the same digit.
Each digit has to be represented by at least one motive

Dynamic Fog:
The grid is covered by fog. Entering correct digits into the grid will lift the fog. There are certain trigger points which unlock a new section of the puzzle. No guessing is required.

Due to the size of the grid and the given task having a lot of cosmetics in the grid, I'd recommend solving on PC rather than phone. You can zoom in and drag the grid around, if you activate "Test Large Puzzle UI" in the settings of sudokupad.

this was a very nice and pretty puzzle. The yellow rose was some nice logic. Would love to see more in the same style.

Thanks for the kind words. I'm glad you enjoyed the solve!
Would enjoy setting more puzzles with this style. But this was also a challenge for me what's possible in sudokumaker. Not sure when I will have the motivation to spend as much time drawing pixels again :)
