A homage to the full ruleset of juggler's Tesselation series.

I set this one while coming off of anesthesia (from dental work) so this may not be apt for human consumption.

  • Tessellation rules:
    • Place digits from 1-9 in each square and octagonal cell.
    • Cells sharing an edge can't have the same digit.
    • Each horizontal row and vertical column contains a non-repeating consecutive set of digits in any order.
  • Shade some cells so that the shaded cells form a connected region and the non-shaded cells also form a connected region. Three cells around an inner vertex of the grid may not be all shaded or all non-shaded.
  • Cells marked with a circle contain a digit that counts the number of neighbor cells, including itself, that are in the same region (shaded/unshaded).
  • Cells marked with a diamond contain a digit that counts the number of neighbor cells that are not in the same region (shaded/unshaded).
  • All possible circles and diamonds are given.

For the vertex rule is that referring to all the interior squares?

Yes, it refers to the sets of three cells that a meet at a vertex of the grid, they are always two octagons and one square. (sorry for not responding earlier, i thought i did, but maybe i only dreamed i did)
