Astronauta

(Published on 11. December 2024, 01:13 by Neokart)

Hello everyone. This is my new puzzle. Astronauta (Astronaut) is the ninth puzzle in a series inspired by the Nasca Lines, a group of geoglyphs in southern Peru. I hope you like it.

Rules:

1. Normal sudoku rules apply: Each row, column and 3x3 box contains each digit from 1 to 9 exactly once.

2. Palindromes: From each of the 3 ends of the yellow line (r1c1, r5c5, and r7c9) draw a non-branching line that visits two or more cells and follows a path traced by the yellow line.

  • The 3 lines are different and must not overlap, although they may touch or cross each other (i.e. they may share a cell, but never the same pair of adjacent cells along them).
  • Not all cells on the yellow line are necessarily visited by any of the 3 lines.
  • Each line must not visit the same cell more than once.
  • Each line is a palindrome that reads the same forwards and backwards.

3. Kropki Pairs: Digits joined by a white dot must be consecutive. Digits joined by a black dot must be in a 1:2 ratio. Not all possible dots are necesarilly given.

Very hard but this may be my favorite entry in the series now. The constraint is surprisingly free. I hit a midsolve snag yesterday and had to restart it this morning, and so glad I returned. Probably >4.5* in difficulty but such fun!!!

Hi, thanks for your comments. I'm glad you liked it. I didn't know whether to give it a 4 or a 5 at first because it was a 4.5 for me. In the end I decided on a 4, but hey, if enough people solve it they have the final say on this site. Greetings. -Neokart
