People really seemed to adore the flow of my "German Whispers" puzzle, so when I came up with another puzzle featuring the same hexagon mechanism, I reached out to James Sinclair who was kind enough to publish this one in Artisanal Sudoku, Volume 152 on December 2, 2024 - which also happens to be my birthday.
SudokuSleuth has also done a video solve here!
Rules:
- Classic rules apply.
- Digits along a green German Whisper line must have a difference in value of at least 5 from their neighbors on the line.
- Digits in killer cages are distinct and add up to the value in the top left corner of the cage.
- Digits with an X between them sum to 10; digits with a V between them sum to 5. No negative constraints.
- Digits with a black Kropki dot between them have a value ratio of 1:2. No negative constraints.
Puzzle:
Solution code: Row 8 digits, left to right

Not very hard, but super entertaining.
>>>NSM here - honestly, that's what I aim for! I don't want to reinvent the wheel, but I do want to make approachable stuff.

Nice Speed run. But more 1 than two stars. I think they could have left out some of the clues (cages) without making it more difficult.
>>>NSM here - I do see your point, but when I was getting stuck on the testing, I figured it would be better to add a few clues here and there in case someone else like me was struggling.
