OmniLS #9: Omni-Peas

(Published on 25. November 2024, 11:00 by sujoyku)

This is the 9th edition of the Omnipotent Line Series (OmniLS). The previous puzzles with Omnipotent Lines have been:

Puzzle #1: Anything works

Puzzle #2: Divinity Through the Fog by meggen033

Puzzle #3: Omnipotent Butterfly

Puzzle #4: Mighty Triangle

DFM Guest Spot: Dutch Flat Mates (Omnipotent Lines)

Puzzle #5: Taking the scenic route

Puzzle #6: X-trapolation

Puzzle #7: The Omni-Code

Puzzle #8: The Circles of Power

After a longer break, the OmniLS series continues. I do not know yet how many are there to come, but I wanted to make it to at least 10 puzzles. :) For this one, I have combined the Omnipotent Lines with my new favourite constraint Split Peas. Please note that the digits in circles also must fulfil the Omnipotent Lines constraint. I like to thank SamuPiano for the testing! The difficulty could be around 2 stars. As always, your comments are highly appreciated. I wish you joyful solving!

- Normal sudoku rules apply, i.e. each row, column and 3x3 region has to contain the digits from 1 to 9 once each.

- Split Peas: The sum of the digits on a line strictly between two circles is equal to a concatenation of the two values in the circles, in some order. For instance, 3_346_1 could be a valid split pea line, as 3+4+6=13, which is 1 concatenated with 3.

- Omnipotent Lines: The orange lines are so-called Omnipotent Lines, i.e. each pair of adjacent digits on such a line must fulfill either an X, V, white or black Kropki dot clue. In other words, any pair of adjacent digits (including circles!) on a line must sum to 5 or 10, be consecutive or in a 1:2 ratio. (At least one of these constraints must be met, it is allowed that two are fulfilled simultaneously.)

Example: The digit 3 may be adjacent on the line to either a 2 (V or white Kropki dot), a 4 (white Kropki dot), a 6 (black Kropki dot) or a 7 (X).

Another great puzzle! Thank you for continuing to use the split peas! And once again, you put them to good use! I also loved the ending of this one, after I was convinced I had broken it :)

Thank you for your comment, SamuPiano! And also thank you for introducing the Split Peas variant! They are so much fun to set with. Combining them with the Omnipotent Lines has been on my bucket list for quite a while and I am glad that you liked what I came up with.
Kind regards, sujoyku

I came for the Split Peas, and am staying for the Omnipotent Lines.
A fabulous combination with an elegant break-in and lovely flow throughout, right the cheeky box 8/9 line.

Thank you for your comment, MattYDdraig! I am glad you enjoyed the Split Peas + Omnipotent Lines combo.
Kind regards, sujoyku

Herzliche Grüße, sujoyku

Would have save 15 minutes of my life if I had realized that, actually, green circles are on orange lines.
Dummy me.
Lovely puzzle. Thank you.

You are much welcome, mihel111! I am glad that you liked the puzzle. Also I am sorry that it was possible to miss the circles being part of the Omnipotent Lines. I tried to emphasize that in the rules, but maybe could have used stronger highlighting.
Kind regards, sujoyku
