Project Alpha and Code Name Omega
(Published on 23. November 2024, 23:00 by XeonRisq)
This is the introduction to the Chaos Mini, which has 3 components to the puzzle : O-G-R.
O - Number of Oblivion Cells
G - Size of Grid
R - Size of Region
For these intro puzzles we will be using 4-7-9 = 4 Oblivion cells; 7x7 Grid; 9-cell Regions.
Additional rules are flexible and can be added as desired for the direction of the puzzle.
Project Alpha
- Divide the grid into five regions and place a digit from 1-9 in each cell such that digits do not repeat in any row, column, or region; oblivion cells occupy the remaining cells in the grid.
- Oblivion cells are not included in any region and do not contain any digit; each oblivion cell consists of four borders.
- Circles : Specify the number of oblivion cell borders that touch its region; the digits across all circles must be unique.
- Chaos/border sandwich : Outside clues specify the sum of digits between the edge and the first oblivion cell in its row/column; if no oblivion cell exists, then all digits between the grid borders in the row/column are counted.
- Arrows : Cells that include an arrow specify that at least one cell NOT in its region, separates itself with another cell in its region, in that direction.

Code Name Omega
- Divide the grid into five regions and place a digit from 1-9 in each cell such that digits do not repeat in any row, column, or region; oblivion cells occupy the remaining cells in the grid.
- Oblivion cells are not included in any region and do not contain any digit; each oblivion cell consists of four borders.
- Circles : Specify the number of oblivion cell borders that touch its region; the digits across all circles must be unique.
- Min/Max regional sums : outside clues specify the UNIQUE minimum or maximum sum in its row/column from the same region; region cells may be separated.
(X = single-digit sum; XX = double-digit sum)
- Arrows : Cells that include an arrow specify that at least one cell NOT in its region, separates itself with another cell in its region, in that direction.
