The Egocentric Knight

(Published on 20. November 2024, 15:46 by wuc)

A new puzzle with a rule that I never worked so far: the anti-knight rule. Leave a comment if you like it.

Rules:

Standard sudoku rules apply: The digits 1 through 9 appear in every row, column, and box..

Anti-knight: Cells that are a chess knight’s move apart cannot contain the same digit.

Arrows: Digits along an arrow must sum to the number indicated in the circle from which the arrow emerges. Digits may repeat along arrows if allowed by other rules.

Digits in cells separated by a black dot are in a 2:1 ratio. Not all dots are necessarily given.

That was very enjoyable. I do like knight constraint puzzles and this one flowed very nicely.

pretty amazing, how the outer part of the grid is devoid of visible clues.
the early part of the solution, sorting out box 5 and the arrows, is pretty easy. then i needed ONE fairly long "bifurcation" chain, but then the rest is easy, just applying basic sudoku and the knight's move constraint.
