Box Multipliers

This puzzle has multipliers that apply to all cells within a 3x3 box and, if the conditions are set right, has the serendipitous property that the values of all cells in the finished sudoku grid will sum to the current year, 2025.

I would say this puzzle has a 3 star difficulty but there's one tricky step in the mid-stage that could bump it up a little in my opinion. (Semi-spoiler Hint: There will be two options for the multiplier digit in Box 9. One of these will break the puzzle in some way).

Rules:

  • Normal sudoku rules: Place the digits 1-9 once each in every row, column, and 3x3 box.
  • Box Multipliers: Each row, column and 3x3 box contains a multiplier digit. The multiplier applies to all cells of the box it lies within. All multiplier digits are unique.
  • The value of each cell is equal to the digit placed in the cell multiplied by the multiplier of its box.
  • Kropki: A white dot indicates the two connected values must be consecutive. A black dot indicates the two connected values must have a ratio of 1:2.
  • Inequality signs must point to the smaller of the two adjacent values.

Great puzzle, very challenging for me. The break-in cooked my noodle but it was cool to see it once I sorted it out.
