RULES:
- Normal Sudoku rules apply. Place the digits 1 through 9 in each empty cell. Digits must not repeat within the same row, column, or box.
- Digits along each renban line must be a set of consecutive digits in any order, and must not repeat.
- Digits along each thermometer must increase starting from the bulb end. If the bulb end is not given, assume it is at one of the endpoints of the grey line (bottom-right box)
- Adjacent digits along each german whisper line must have a difference of at least 5.
- Digits along a palindrome line read the same forwards or backwards. Digits may only repeat once on palindrome lines (negative constraint).
- Adjacent cells connected with an X must sum to 10. Adjacent cells connected with a V must sum to 5.
- Circled digits where four cells meet must be present as values in those four cells.
- Digits must not repeat in cells that are a chess king's move apart.

There are some elements here, but certainly many more clues than needed, even for a 1* puzzle. The king's move works, but some of the other clues could have been a little sparser to make it a little more challenging. Thank you for sharing!

here's a CTC version:

and it feels more like 1* difficulty.
Thank you!

I think I answered a question you weren't asking. Sorry about that. Anyway, at least I solved the real puzzle.

@burgermason - select the whole of that big long string and right-click. With luck the menu will offer you the option of opening that link in, say, a new tab - it worked for me. Doesn't answer the question why, however.

I was struggling with both converting the sudokulab link to CTC, and shortening the original Sudokulab link. If someone could assist me in solving this problem, I would be greatful.
