Dutch Flat Shapes
(Published on 24. October 2024, 03:24 by Elytron)
This sudoku is a successor to
19 Shapes of Grey
and
The Grass Is Always Greener in the Fog.
If you want to get a better feeling for the rules, it might help solving these two first, although it's not necessary.
I've been planning on creating another sudoku in this style, but when
Flinty
wrote a comment on a
Puzzle Patzer
video, (half-jokingly) suggesting a Dutch Flat Mates version, some ideas instantly came to mind.
I hope you like the result! :D
Solve with
SudokuPad.
Rules:
- Normal sudoku rules apply.
- Digits separated by a black shape are in a 1:2 ratio. Green shapes don't have such a restriction.
- Shapes are made up of semi-circles and semi-squares, resulting in either a full circle, a full square, or a "circle-square", these may be rotated in any direction.
- Digits separated by a circle add up to 9, digits separated by a circle-square add up to 12, and digits separated by a square add up to 15.
- Dutch Flatmates: Every 5 in the grid must have a 1 directly above it or a 9 directly below it. It may have both, but it doesn't need both.
- Fog: The grid is partially covered with fog. Correctly placed digits will clear the fog around that cell. No guessing is required.
Solution code: Column 9 from top to bottom (9 digits).

This would have been an awesome addition to the main series. Lovely constraint, and very nice puzzle.
