Nabnerix

(Published on 14. October 2024, 12:25 by sujoyku)

This puzzle has been created for a Scojo prompt in which one should combine Nabner lines and X-sums in one puzzle. As always, your comments are highly appreciated. I wish you joyful solving!

- Normal sudoku rules apply, i.e. each row, column and 3x3 region has to contain the digits from 1 to 9 once each.

- Nabner lines: The golden lines are Nabner lines, i.e. on such a line there may not be consecutive or repeated digits.

Example: If a 5 lies on a Nabner line, this line may not contain another 5 and neither a 4 nor a 6.

- X-sums: Clues outside the grid indicate the sum of the first X digits in the respective row or column where X is the first digit seen from the clue.

I like how you set the sums. It took me a second to figure out the sort of "hidden clue" they gave me, but it was very fun to color. Took me a bit longer than most 1* puzzles, but certainly no less approachable!

Thank you for your comment, dzamie! I am glad that you found the puzzle to be approachable and had fun solving.

This took me much longer than a 1-star should, but that's probably just my relative unfamiliarity beforehand with how the X-sums worked.

Overall VERY enjoyable, and it flowed continuously from start to finish. Thank you!

You are much welcome, virus_dave, thank you for your comment! I think this could be estimated as a 1.5 stars puzzle, but it relies of course very much on familiarity with the constraints. In any case, it is great to hear you had a nicely flowing solve.

Very nice nabner puzzle. For nabner experienced players maybe 1.5 star. Else 2 star. Loved the break in and the great use of the last nabner constraint. Great fun thx.

You are much welcome, wuc, thank you for your comment! I am glad you had a fun solve. Considering your remark on difficulty: I was torn between pre-setting it as 1 or 2 stars. It might be right between those two difficulty levels.
Kind regards, sujoyku
