Entropic Doll (Entropic Lines, Russian Doll Sums)
(Published on 28. September 2024, 17:30 by Crusader175)
My puzzle for the third round of the Speed Setting Competition hosted by
Gene. Combining my selected variant (Entropic Lines) and Gene's invention (Russian Doll Sums).
Rules:
Normal sudoku rules apply.
Entropic Lines: Any set of three sequential cells along an entropic line must contain a low (1,2,3), middle (4,5,6), and high (7,8,9) digit.
Russian Doll Sums: Clues outside the grid indicate that in that row or column there exists two digits which sum to the clue such that digits between them also sum to the clue.
Example: 594 / 1278 / 25137 is a valid combination for the clue of 9.

@Crusader175: Sorry, you're totally right. I was thinking about it in the context of a similar rule I've seen once that allowed for the possibility of the two digits being adjacent (but somehow stated it subtly), and my brain just kept filling in that blank. But, of course, being a contingency, it has to be stated explicitly. Which you didn't. Just sudoku rule hallucination on my part.
Reply: No worries, thank you for solving!

Really nice puzzle! But you need to specify a non-zero number of between digits, otherwise you get solution degeneracy
Reply: Thank you! I'm not sure what you mean by non-zero, because if it's zero digits between them it's not summing to the clues.
