Chaos Arrows

(Published on 27. September 2024, 15:19 by Sotehr)

PUZZLE

RULES

Chaos Construction: Construct 9 contiguous and orthogonal regions, such that they contain each of the digits 1-9.

Sudoku: Chaos Construction Sudoku rules apply; place the digits 1-9 once in every row, column, and region.

Black Arrows: A cell with a black arrow counts how many other unique regions are seen along the arrows path. If a cell has multiple arrows, then the number of unique regions is the same in all directions indicated, although not necessarily the same regions. All such arrows have been given.

Teal Arrows: A cell with a teal arrow sums all the digits along the arrows path of the first other region seen in that direction.

Magenta Arrows: A cell with a magenta arrow sums the first digit along the arrows path of each of the next two other regions in that direction.

Accessibility Note: Black Arrows have no shaft for their arrows, Teal Arrows have the shorter shaft, and Magenta Arrows have the longer shaft.

EXAMPLES

The example image shows a 6x6 grid, filled with the same type of arrows as the puzzle, with the regions and digits already defined.

What exactly do all the black arrows mean? This conflicts with the left arrow of R1C6 in the example.

- There is no negative constraint for the example, it's just there to show the different ways the arrows can work. r1c6 could have a left arrow and it would be true. - Sotehr

This is the hardest puzzle I've beaten so far. It did look overwhelming at first, and I did make a few mistakes, but it was really really fun. I didn't even notice that 100 minutes had passed once I inserted the last digit
Great job Sotehr, I know it wasn't easy to set a sudoku like this one
