Little Killer Counting (6 x 6)

(Published on 19. September 2024, 18:30 by marty_sears)

This was made for Scojo's Little Killer prompt, and is based on an idea from the very talented sujoyko, who has now also made this 7 x 7 version.

Rules:

  • Normal 6x6 sudoku rules apply.
  • Digits along a diagonal marked by an arrow sum to the digit on the arrow, if one is given.
  • Any digit along an 'arrow diagonal' indicates exactly how many arrow diagonals contain that digit.
  • Eg: if there is a digit 3 somewhere along an arrow diagonal, then exactly 3 arrow diagonals contain at least one 3.

This was a super nice little puzzle, I really enjoyed the logic and the flow of it. Only real issue was me not reading the instructions properly and thinking it was "number of times the digit appears in an arrow cell" rather than number of arrows the digit appears in, but once I actually read the instructions properly it was super fun and clear :D

What a wonderful little challenge! I gave it 3 stars difficulty because it was so devious to start even though it was short

A very approachable, but fascinating puzzle with some really carefully placed clues. Felt almost miraculous.

To the point with no extra cruft. And one of the prettier counting puzzles I’ve seen!
