Fog! Hammertime!

(Published on 14. September 2024, 19:16 by Elytron)

I recently participated in Scojo's and Hatgurl's challenge, where we were tasked to set a sudoku in our typical setting style. This following sudoku is my submission for it. Nebuzaradan was then tasked with the challenge of impersonating me and trying to fool the jury (twitch chat). I barely managed to convince them that this puzzle was indeed mine, even though the impostor puzzle Relatively Foggy Cages was an incredible imitation of my puzzle style, I would highly recommend giving it a solve too!

Solve with SudokuPad.

Rules:

  • Standard Sudoku rules apply.

  • Product Bands: Multiplying the digits on two circles of the same color equals the sum of the digits on the line connecting them.
  • Each product band is associated with a unique color and does not split.
  • Digits on the endpoints of a product band index either their row, column, or box.

  • Little Killers: Digits along the indicated diagonal add up to the number provided and may repeat if allowed by other rules.

  • Kropki Dots: Digits separated by a black dot are in a 1:2 ratio; not all black dots are necessarily given.

  • Fog: The grid is partially covered with fog. Correctly placed digits will clear the fog around that cell. No guessing is required.

Solution code: Row 9 from left to right (9 digits).

Am absolutely beautiful puzzle! I quickly found myself scratching my head when determining the shape of the second product line but I resisted the urge to guess and chipped away and got there in the end. Wonderful logic until the last number. Great stuff.

Such a fun puzzle! Lots of surprises and excellent deductions that need to be made.

Nice! I feel as though I may have skipped some steps by guessing that one line would form a certain shape, but still an excellent experience start to finish.

You won _on a tiebreaker_! No, I'm not salty... :)

But seriously, product bands is an idea with potential, and this is a nice execution of it. Highly recommended.

Haha, but it was unfair mor my one solution to go against your three! ;) -Elytron
