Satisfied Spiders

(Published on 25. October 2024, 12:00 by Bearded Fool)

Rules:

Normal sudoku rules apply. Every row, column, and 3x3 box contains the digits 1-9, once each.

Purple web strands contain digits that form a non-repeating, consecutive set of digits, arranged in any order.

In box 5 there are various egg cases. Black cases separate digits in a 2:1 ratio. White cases separate consecutive digits. All possible egg cases that are completely within box 5 are given. In other boxes or along the border of box 5, these are not given.

Throughout the web are remnants of past meals. Vs separate digits that sum to five. Sideways Vs are inequalities that point to the smaller digit.

The spider and the fly in box five are not the only of their kinds in the puzzle. Every row, column, and 3x3 box has both a spider and a fly. All spiders contain the same digit, and all flies contain the same digit. Since the spiders are all satisfied from their past meals, a spider and a fly can never be orthogonally or diagonally adjacent to each other. Spiders can touch other spiders and flies can touch other flies.
