Japanese Sums Cave Cipher - KNT

(Published on 27. August 2024, 12:49 by ONeill)

Rules:

Shade some cells such that all unshaded cells are orthogonally connected and the shaded cells are orthogonally connected to the edge of the grid.

Place digits 1-9 into the unshaded cells such that no digit repeats in a row or column. Clues outside the grid give the sums of connected digits between shaded cells, in the correct order. A ? stands for any digit 0-9, but no clue may have a leading 0.

Each letter (K,N,T) must be assigned three different digits 0-9. Different letters may not be assigned the same digit. Each occurrence of a letter can be any one of the three values assigned to it. This means that one of the digits will not be assigned to a letter.

A cell containing a circle is unshaded and its value is the total number of unshaded cells seen vertically and horizontally including itself. Shaded cells obstruct the view. All circles are given.

Wonderful puzzle! The break-in was tough, but after that it was a smooth solve. Thank you!

Great puzzle! While it was difficult at times (especially when I repeatedly forgot the negative constraint), I eventually found the solution path in an enjoyable way.

This puzzle should be 6 stars at least. The first part seemed so hard, I got lost but the sudoku part was even harder. It took me 6 hours to finish this... This is astonishing. Loved the way this puzzle itched my brain !
