The Hunt for the 5's
(Published on 23. August 2024, 16:35 by antiknight)
I created a puzzle by combining Dutch Flat mates, Arrows, and Killer cages! Leave a comment if you enjoy the puzzle! Shoutout to
Flinty for creating this rule.
Rules:
1) Normal Sudoku rules apply:
Place the digits 1-9 into each cell of the grid. None of the rows, columns or boldly outlined 3x3 boxes contain repeated digits.
2) Dutch Flats rules apply:
Every 5 in the grid must have a 1 directly above it or a 9 directly below it. It may have both, but it doesn't need both.
3) Standard Killer Cages rules apply:
Within each cage, digits cannot repeat and must sum to the value in the upper-left corner (if given).
4) Standard Arrows rules apply:
The digits along each arrow must sum to the digit in the circled cell.

Strangely low rating - enjoyed this puzzle highly. (I did miss an element to the break-in that, after the fact, was quite obvious, which led me down a bifurcation rabbit-hole at the beginning of the puzzle, but once I saw the light, the puzzle unfolded elegantly!)
- I'm glad you did, and thank you for your comment! It seems like solvers don't really enjoy the Dutch flat rules, which might explain the low rating.

Very nice puzzle, thank you for sharing.
One question: what about your six cages only puzzle? It took me some days to work it out but once solved.. puff .. unavailable.. I enjoyed the solve anyway
- I've created a polished and better version, which is now active on my page.
