Candy Heat

Rules:
Sudoku: Place the digits 1-9 into each row, column and outlined 3x3 box without repeats.
Ambiguous XV/Kropki Dots: The grid is cluttered with 4 differently coloured dots. The 4 colours represent the 4 constraints of White Kropki, Black Kropki, V and X clues. Which colour represents which constraint must be deduced by the solver.
Thermometer: Digits along a thermometer strictly increase starting from the bulb end.

I have been staring at and trying to work through this puzzle for nearly an hour, and all I've worked out is that two of the four colors can't be the one of the constraint categories.
The puzzle looks fun but I feel completely stuck trying to figure out how to break into it. Is there a way to ask for things to look for without spoiling the puzzle for other folks who'd like to solve it?

Great fun! It felt rather satisfying to figure out the correct corresponding variants.
I'd put it around a bit harder side of 2 stars because of the sudoku scanning in the later half x)

For me it was very easy, which is somewhat surprising given my incompetence when it comes to sudoku. I found it rather obvious which dot was what, and one nice little logic later, everything just fell into place.
