The difficulty of this puzzle may vary greatly depending on your experience with loop puzzles. If you've never solved a loop puzzle, you might want to spend a moment to try and discover some "secrets" of the genre (akin to the better-known secrets of yin-yang puzzles).
The name of the puzzle is a reference to a classic Japanese novel, 「銀河鉄道の夜」. The first few drafts of the puzzle had many arrows positioned in spiraling "galaxy" motifs, so I thought a loop through the clues was like a railway through the universe. However, in the final puzzle, almost all traces of galaxies have disappeared!
Solution code: The number of shaded cells in every row, top to bottom. (11 digits, no spaces.)

This puzzle is full of lovely and satisfying logic. I hadn't solved a directional loop puzzle before, and I had a great time figuring out and applying some "secrets" as you term them. I have also just spent an enjoyable hour reading about Night on the Galactic Railroad and Kenji Miyazawa - thank you for the introduction!

Excellent logical flow. The foreword is also very relevant. Even if you THINK you know the secrets of directional loops (like I did), it’s worth taking a second look to really internalize them. The puzzle flows very nicely if you do!
