Lucy in the Sky (XY Differences)

(Published on 18. August 2024, 18:28 by tallcat)

I enjoyed setting the XY differences for my recent 6x6 sudoku puzzles and so decided to have a go at a 9x9. I remain surprised at how much you can get from this constraint with relatively minimal clues - but while still maintaining a smooth and not too difficult solve path. Hope you enjoy!

Normal sudoku rules apply.

XY Differences: Each pair of horizontally connected cells that differ by the leftmost digit in their row is separated by a diamond. Each pair of vertically connected cells that differ by the topmost digit in their column is separated by a diamond (There are no other diamonds in the grid.)

Can be played online at Sudokupad

Solution code: Row 8 (left to right). 9 digits, no spaces.

Another very refreshing concept new to me. One hill mid way where I had to look ahead a bit but the rest was very smooth. Great fun thx.
