Snookerfan's 64

(Published on 16. August 2024, 13:12 by Mad-Tyas)

As the title suggests, this puzzle is dedicated to the solver Snookerfan. The reason: Snookerfan has achieved the feat of solving all of my previous 63 Entropy Sudokus in the portal. With this puzzle I would like to honor that and at the same time thank you for the many nice comments.

So this is the 64th Entropy Sudoku from me in the portal. 64 is also the number of 2x2 boxes in a 9x9 Sudoku. It seemed fitting to make a thematic puzzle that was all about 2x2 boxes.

Thank you, Snookerfan! I hope you and many others like this special puzzle.

Have fun solving! (This time the rules are below the picture.)

Rules:

Sudoku: Fill every row, column and marked 3x3 box with the digits 1-9.

Entropy: Each 2x2 box in the grid has to contain a low digit (1, 2, 3), a middle digit (4, 5, 6) and a high digit (7, 8, 9).

Snookerfan Special: Each of the 8 different letters in Snookerfan represents a different rule that applies to the 2x2 box at the center of which the letter is given.

S (Sum to 20): The 4 digits of this 2x2 box have to sum to 20.
N (Nothing): An N appears only for cosmetic purposes.
O (Odd): All 4 digits in this 2x2 box have to be odd.
K (Kropki): For each of the 4 dominos in this 2x2 box the digits have to be consecutive or in 1:2 ratio.
E (Extreme): The 4 digits in this 2x2 box have to sum to 13 or 27.
R (Race to 64): The 4 digits in this 2x2 box have to multiply to a multiple of 64 (i.e. 64, 128, 192...).
F (Friendly): All 4 cells in this 2x2 box have to be "friendly" cells (i.e. the digit matches the row, column or box number).
A (Anti-Knight): For each of the 4 cells in this 2x2 box, a cell a chess knights move apart may not contain the same digit.

Solution code: Row 1 (9 digits)

Just returned from my vacation where I was not able to play this beautiful gift. Thank you so much for making me this special puzzle, after you have already given me 63 great entropy puzzles which all felt like special gifts already. I feel really honored!

Toll!

Nice puzzle, but it's sad to say that it gets a little bit boring later in the game, as the conditions run out and it becomes less interesting than it was at the beginning. Looking forward to your next puzzle!

@Bankey: The anti-knight rule applies only to this single 2x2 box.

@ Mad-Tyas : a query, pl. For the digits in the 2×2 box named 'A', does the anti-knight rule apply for these 4 digits throughout the grid or only with respect to their locations in the said 2×2 box ? Thanks.
