22 coincidence

(Published on 2. August 2024, 15:56 by Elytron)

Hello, last week I had my 22nd birthday and as a little nod to this, I decided to try setting a sudoku based around the number. This kind of ruleset got me a bit out of my comfort zone, which is why I would be grateful for any tips for improvement! :)

Solve with SudokuPad.

Rules:

  • There are two 6x6 sudokus for which normal sudoku rules apply.
  • The two sudokus can be overlapped without rotation, such that in the overlapping region, the digits coincide and add up to 22 (in each region separately).
  • Along green German whispers lines, digits must differ from their neighbors by at least 3.
  • Digits on a purple Renban line must be a set of consecutive, non-repeating digits (in any order).

Example:

In this example, the (green) overlapping region sums up to 50 (instead of 22).

Solution code: Row 1 of both sudokus, from left to right, starting with the left sudoku (12 digits).

Wow! The break in is such a beautifully clever idea, and the remaining puzzle is far from trivial. Really wonderful puzzle, thank you! And happy birthday for last week!
