Uniqueness or Bust

(Published on 2. August 2024, 09:40 by juggler)

Normal 4x4 Sudoku rules always apply. Click a puzzle to uniquify it.

1. Uniqcages (★☆☆☆☆)
Digits in a cage don't repeat, and each cage sums to N. Pick a value for N such that the resulting puzzle has a unique solution. Then solve it.

2. Uniqking (★★☆☆☆)
An "anti-king" digit is not allowed to repeat in two cells which see each other by a king's move. Select zero or more digits from 1-4 to be anti-king digits such that the resulting puzzle has a unique solution. Then solve it.

3. Uniqkropki (★★★☆☆)
Digits separated by a white dot have adjacent values. Digits separated by a black dot have values in a 2:1 ratio. Place one additional kropki dot such that the resulting puzzle has a unique solution. Then solve it.

4. Uniqconsecutive (★★★★☆)
Digits on a pink line form a consecutive non-repeating set in any order. Extend the line by one or more cells such that the resulting puzzle has a unique solution. Then solve it.

Utterly bonkers (but very cool) set of puzzles. Very weird, and not sure I did them entirely logically, but interesting none the less.

This was a really delightful series. I don't think I've solved anything that so perfectly bridged the gap between setting and solving. Thanks for sharing!

Really awesome execution as always. It feels like this kind of "uniqueness construction" brings a fresh way to think about the various rulesets. Takes a bit to get used to but that's my favorite kind of constraints, thank you once again for sharing <3

Struggling so hard to find a line that will disambiguate the hidden pair on the final puzzle :O

Some seriously cool ideas here - remarkable that they all solve uniquely ... the last one is probably the best 4x4 I have ever solved.

This is such an elegant set of uniqueness puzzles, and a perfect demonstration of why small grids can be so beautiful! The last one in particular is sublime for such a small idea!
