With Friends Like This ...

(Published on 29. July 2024, 23:43 by Ratfinkz)

Inspired by Scojos Setting Saturday Prompt where the week's constraints were evil! (Friendly cells, nonconsecutive, extra regions AND negators) I tried to make something not TOO evil!

  • Normal Sudoku rules apply.
  • Diamonds are friendly cells which must match their row or column number. Digits may never repeat in friendly cells, but not all digits appear in friendly cells
  • Every row, column and box contains 1 negator cell. These are equal to the negative of their digit. Negator cells make up a full set of the digits 1-9
  • Killer cages. Digits may not repeat in killer cages and the sum of every value in the cage must equal the number in the top left of the cage
  • Non-consecutive. Digits in cages may never share a border with a consecutive value in the same cage.
  • the white dot in b7 marks two consecutive digits
  • See puzzle instructions for further clarification of the rules

  • Sudoku Pad

Solution code: Digits in Negated cells, in normal reading order (top to bottom left to right(

Very nice puzzle. The non consecutive only within cages went forgotten from time to time :-). Awesome. Thx.

Thank you for this fantastic puzzle, Ratfinkz! The non-consecutive rule is easy to forget, but puts a lot of fun into the mix. Great setting!

@WatermeRen: start with the negator in Row 1, then the one in Row 2 and so on until you hit Row 9.

What a fun puzzle, thank you! And it actually solves once you remember that 'negative' doesn't mean 'zero' :p
