Rules:

  • Place a subset of the digits 1-9 in each row, column, and 2x3 box. The same subset must be used for each. The six shaded cells can be used for taking notes, and should be filled with the subset of digits used in the puzzle, lowest to highest from left to right.
  • Each gray Ten line consists of one or more contiguous groups of cells, each of which sums to 10. These groups of cells cannot overlap.

Feel like the rules could be clearer, especially when at first it looks broken, when I reread the rules, it seems like one possibility seemingly not prevented by the rules is that there can be cells on lines which are not part of a 10 group. Had to read the comments to see that this was clarified (not allowed). If you think 'consists' is equivalent to 'exclusively contains' then it's not ambiguous, if you think it means 'contains' then it's ambiguous.

I would add a final bit to clarify, something like

"Each gray .... sums to 10. These groups of cells cannot overlap and all cells on a line are in a group"

Same reaction to this puzzle as Ratzfaz. Really interesting ten-line behavior that I haven't seen before.

Amazing puzzle with surprising logic and a fun ruleset. It was very satisfying to solve. I would agree with user abihummel in saying it may be a 3 star in difficulty.

Do the rules imply that every cell on a Ten line is in a group of digits summing to 10 ?

(reply): yes, that's correct.

Incredibly smart puzzle! I thought I broke the puzzle multiple times before I finally cracked it! For me, this was on the higher end of 2*/lower end of 3*.
