La Mancha, a knight's path

(Published on 15. July 2024, 21:50 by SkepticalMario)

The Adventures of Don Quixote of La Mancha

Help Don Quixote as he moves like a knight through the countryside of La Mancha looking for his Lady Dulcinea!

Note: The original version of this puzzle was not well solveable without bifurcation as to the placement of the path. The new version simply has all segment ends given, which is still a nice puzzle. Rules:

  • Normal Sudoku rules - Place the digits 1 through 9 in each cell without repeating a digit in a row, column, or box.
  • Knight's Move path with German Whisper constraint - Draw a path that moves orthogonally in L-shaped segments through the centers of some cells and does not branch or cross itself. Each segment of the path moves one cell in one direction and two cells in a perpendicular direction, or vice versa. Only one turn per segment is allowed. Cells in successive segment ends in the path differ by at least five.
  • Segment ends with Path-Counting circles - Small squares mark the end of a segment in Don Quixote's path. Large circles also mark segment ends, and in addition, the digit in the circle indicates how many cells in the surrounding 9-cell region are on the path. All segment ends are given by either small squares or large circles.
  • Kropki - A black dot between cells indicates cell values with a 2:1 ratio. A white dot between cells indicates cells with consecutive values. Not all such relationships are marked with dots. The path moves through each white dot.
  • Anti-king - Digits must not repeat in cells that are a chess king's move apart.
