Schrodinger's Split Peas

(Published on 12. July 2024, 15:44 by SamuPiano)

Schrodinger sudoku rules apply - place the digits 0 through 9 once each in every row, column and 3x3 box. This is accomplished by having one cell in each house be a "Schrodinger cell", containing two digits.

No two Schrodinger cells can have the same two digits. The value of a cell is the sum of all digits contained in the cell.

Split pill arrows (split peas) - the sum of the values strictly between two circles is equal to a concatenation of the two values in the circles, in some order. (e.g. 3_346_1 could be a valid split pea line, as 3+4+6=13.) 0 is a valid concatenation; for example, 0_123_6 could also be a valid split pea line.

Every set of cells between two circles is a separate summation.

A rather smooth solve - after the initial immediate crashing that truly concentrated the mind. :D

I feel like "concatenation" as a word is uncommon enough that it needs some explanation. If two circles have the values 0 and 12, what are their valid concatenations? Only 12 and 120? Or are 21, 102, 201 etc. also valid?
------
Hi! In this instance, only 12 and 120 would be valid; so, either 0||12 or 12||0.

I agree with @vitaminz - some spectacular bits of logic throughout the solve (and as a bit of advice, if you get stuck, you've likely forgotten an important part of the rules... and if you're still stuck, you've probably forgotten a different important part of the rules!).

Tough puzzle but very worth it. Lots of great deductions but two in particular were world class.
