Skyscraper Celebration 2024!

(Published on 19. July 2024, 05:00 by Will Power)

Normal Sudoku rules apply. SKYSCRAPER SUMS- Numbers inside the grid represent a building of that height, at that location. Smaller buildings cannot be seen if they are behind any larger ones. Numbers outside the grid are the sum of the HEIGHTS of all buildings that can be seen when looking horizontally or vertically into the grid. KROPKI PAIRS- Numbers with a white dot between them are consecutive. Numbers with black dots between them are in a ratio of 2:1. Not all possible dots are shown. Do not use the following HINT if you want a more difficult solve: Except for the nines, which are NOT shaded, numbers shaded light green can be seen from the left or right skyscraper clue points. Except for the nine, numbers shaded dark green can be seen from the top or bottom clue points.

I liked this puzzle a lot, but I would agree that a non-shaded version would help people who want the bigger challenge. I was able to deduce what the shaded cells meant, so I was unable to ignore them when solving. But very good puzzle.

Enjoyable puzzle.
It would've been nice to have a non-coloured grid though, because while I didn't read the hint, it became obvious what the colors are for pretty fast.

But that's just my two cents, it didn't spoil the fun of solving the puzzle or anything, so no big deal.

Very nice twist on skyscraper logic, and thanks for the clarification!

Added to rules black dots are 2:1 ratio.

What are the black dot rules? Standard 1:2 ratio and no negative constraint, or is there a negative constraint?

Nice that I just finished completing a skyscraper puzzle beforehand which served as a good warm up. (guess more of a cool down since this was easier?) Nice to have my regular tridaily Will Power puzzle, do you just have a stack of them prepared ready to go? Do you set a bunch at a time or one at a time?

@WatermeRen Thanks for playing and commenting. There are definitely times when I am feeling more creative than others. LMD allows me to schedule my puzzles well in advance. Sometimes I am a month ahead, and sometimes I create a puzzle the same day. Right now, I have 3 submitted to LMD that are not released yet and 1 on my computer that I am working on. Peace to you. -Will Power
