Puttering With Prime Sandwiches

(Published on 5. July 2024, 15:01 by RockyRoer)

Combines putteria, sandwich, and finding distinct primes sums -- what more could one ask for?

The Rules:

  1. [Sudoku] Normal sudoku rules apply.
  2. [Putteria Variant] Shade exactly two cells in every row, column, and 3x3 box such that:
    • No shaded cells are orthogonally connected.
    • There is only one shaded cell per killer cage
    • The shaded cell contains the size of the killer cage.
  3. [Killer] Digits in killer cages cannot repeat.
  4. [Sandwich Variant] Question marks outside the grid indicate that the sum of the digits between the shaded cells in that row or column must be a distinct prime value (no repeats allowed)
The Puzzle: Try it using Sven's Sudoku Pad

Solution code: The row or column containing the smallest sandwich sum, clued or unclued, from left to right or top to bottom

Excellent multi-stage puzzle! Requires some thought, but solves smoothly the entire way.

Reply: Thanks! I especially enjoyed speed running the first stage during the multiple times I tested and retested this puzzle :-)

Elegant & great fun, as always.

Maybe mention the solution code is the smallest of the sums, whether clued or unclued? I assumed it was smallest of the clued ones.

REPLY: Thanks for the solve! I've updated the solution code description.
